Throw Back Thursday: Persephone

This project is from back in January of 2012, with my good friend Tara. The idea was to capture the beauty of Persephone; a woman so unique that Hades rose up from the underworld to capture her and make her his bride. Her mother was so overcome with mourning for her daughter that she plunged the world into fall, then winter, forcing Hades to allow Persephone to visit her mother once a year, resulting in the spring and summer seasons.

10 Year Old Princess Party

This January, three little girls very close to me, and that are best friends with each other, all turned 10 years old. All three were present at my wedding back in 2003, though none had been born yet. So we set up a special party for them and their little sisters, where all of the girls were encouraged to dress in fancy gowns, don colorful wigs, tiaras, and sunglasses, and have their photos taken like a fashion model. Here are some of my favorite highlights from that day:

Silver Screen Movie Starlet Preview

January marks the second full month at my new studio in South Salt Lake. To celebrate, I have organized a Red Carpet Event for women to dress as glamorous movie stars and drink some bubbly. Here are a few of the preview photos for the event.  The event will take place on Friday, January 17th. Email for details if you would like to attend.

Holly and Aaron: Vintage WWII Era Engagement Photos

I first wanted to share one of my favorite photo shoots of all time. Both Holly and Aaron are very close friends of mine. So when they fell in love, and asked me to take their engagement photos, we knew this whirlwind romance couldn't have just your every day run of the mill engagement shoot. After some successful brainstorming, we decided on the Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base. The shoot was quick and painless, and produced what I feel are timeless results. Take a look:

Introduction

Hi, I'm Kate, and I am a photographer in Salt Lake City. Photography has become my addiction; my stress relief; my passion. I am currently trying my luck in various different venues, from art and fantasy to portrait photography to landscapes. I am also looking into options for stock photography. I am always looking for new models and new clients, and felt this could be a good way to communicate with followers and show them my work. Take a look around.
